In this environment, rigorous non-financial risk management is essential to ensure the sector remains aligned with its risk appetite framework. You report to the Director, Risk and Capital, Business Services and are responsible for ensuring integrated and proactive governance of non-financial risks, including ESG, operational and regulatory risks; operational resilience; and matrix support for the Business Services sector’s change initiatives and transformation programs. Your goal is to support strategic decision-making in order to do what’s best for our members and clients and foster sustainable growth that’s aligned with Desjardins’s risk appetite. As a Director, you’re a proven, positive leader who sets the tone for your team. You represent the Business Services sector within various decision-making bodies and provide influential leadership to partner teams in both the first and second lines of defence to guide decisions and support effective, consistent management of non-financial risks and operational resilience. You draw on your in-depth knowledge of the sector to manage a unit that provides specialized services to all of Desjardins Group. You are responsible for overseeing your unit’s service offer and developing and implementing its business plan. A strategic mindset is therefore essential. You draw on your ability to develop talent, drive results and build networks to effectively manage people and performance, produce reports and ensure member/client satisfaction. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Support the Director, Risk and Capital, Business Services by helping set strategic directions.
- Oversee the governance of non-financial risks for the Business Services sector:
- Assume responsibility for updating the non-financial risk management frameworks owned by the sector (first line of defence) and supporting updates to frameworks owned by the Risk Management Executive Division (second line of defence).
- Coordinate the operationalization of non-financial risk management frameworks, including the risk appetite framework, by implementing new management practices and/or rules (e.g., thresholds, limits).
- Implement assessment processes and monitoring and escalation mechanisms to ensure compliance with non-financial risk management frameworks, including compliance with ESG targets.
- Support teams in the Business Services sector with non-financial risk management activities:
- Continuously monitor the sector’s exposure to non-financial risks, based on analysis of operational, regulatory and ESG risk data to quickly identify breaches of established thresholds or limits.
- Share relevant information on non-financial risks with each of the business lines, including via BI tools, to help them take proactive action.
- Support teams in the Business Services Executive Division with independent oversight, audits and inspections, and follow up on the Business Services Executive Division’s audit action plans and mandates.
- Support the Business sector with all its cross-business lines activities:
- Contribute to the sector’s change initiatives and transformation projects by supporting implementation and conducting risk analyses to ensure compliance with frameworks in future state.
- Strengthen Desjardins Group’s operational resilience by guaranteeing its ability to maintain or quickly recover essential operations in the event of unexpected disruptions that impact Business Services members and clients.
- Carry out reporting on the sector by producing its risk profile and sharing analyses related to risk events and changes in our risk exposure.
- Communicate changes constructively in a way that mobilizes teams.
- Deal with others tactfully and adapt your messaging to your audience.
- Foster teamwork and cohesion between teams.
- Monitor your field closely to stay ahead of the curve in adopting innovative practices and tools.
- Understand the inner working of your field, your business sector and your sector’s best practices and ways of working.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in management, administration, finance, communications or a related field
- At least ten years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a management role
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Experience in non-financial risks, including ESG risks and operational resilience
- Experience delivering large-scale projects and managing related impacts
- Advanced communication skills in French (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of the banking sector
- Knowledge of business processes and technology and digital issues
