Account Manager, Commercial Market
Job Offer
As an account manager for the commercial market, you are responsible for prospecting, acquiring, developing and maintaining business relationships with clients of Desjardins Ontario Credit Union – Elm Branch, primarily medium-sized organizations operating in the commercial market. The role focuses on promoting and selling products and services to support the growth of the Desjardins Business centre. You leverage your business expertise and established frameworks to represent the organization in complex negotiations and agreements that have a significant impact on the Desjardins Business centre. The role also requires balancing sales objectives with sound and prudent risk management, portfolio profitability and the satisfaction of members, clients and partners. More specifically, you’ll be required to:
- Solicit and develop and maintain personalized business relationships with existing and potential clients to promote and sell Desjardins products and services.
- Manage accounts, serving as the link between the Desjardins Business centre and members and clients. Ensure that clients have the products and services they need, are using them correctly, and are satisfied with them. Analyze sources of dissatisfaction and recommend potential solutions.
- Identify and analyze member/client needs and develop personalized solutions. Prepare integrated service offers. Negotiate applicable conditions with members and clients.
- Recommend strategies or solutions to reach objectives set by the Desjardins Business centre, such as increased sales volume, sound risk management, portfolio profitability and improved business relations.
- Monitor the industry to identify business development opportunities that would add a competitive edge to existing products and services.
- Carry out promotional activities for the Desjardins Business centre. Take part in public relations activities and maintain a presence in the business community.
- Be attentive to the needs of members and clients to ensure their full satisfaction, act on business opportunities and, as needed, refer members and clients to the right person.
- Comply with policies, practices and standards, as well as legislation governing the distribution of financial products and services.
- Provide sound and prudent risk management for all portfolios under your responsibility.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- At least four years of relevant experience
- Other combinations of training and experience may be considered.
- Strong communication skills in English and French, both written and spoken, due to the nature of the job duties, work tools and interactions with partners, members and clients
- Knowledge of the latest financial, economic, policy and legislative developments
- Ability to analyze the business centre’s market and external environment
- Knowledge of financial analysis practices
- Knowledge of the characteristics and credit risks inherent to the commercial, industrial and institutional markets
- Knowledge of loan and guarantee agreements
- Knowledge of products and services for businesses, products and services offered by Desjardins caisses, components and distribution networks, and products and services offered by competitors
- Knowledge of financing and credit management practices for businesses
- Knowledge of policies, legislation and standards governing products and services offered by the business centre
- Knowledge of business credit authorization, monitoring, collection and recovery practices
- Knowledge of Desjardins business processes
- Knowledge of referral processes
- Knowledge of government business assistance programs
- Networking skills
- Sales skills
- Knowledge of service standards
- Knowledge of the values, rules and operating methods of cooperatives and cooperative networks
- Available for occasional travel within the region (approximately 10% of the time)
