    The Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec is looking for a senior legal advisor to join its team responsible for providing legal support to Desjardins Global Asset Management for its investments in real estate and infrastructure assets. As a Senior legal advisor, Real estate and infrastructure transactional law, you help protect the organization’s legal interests by ensuring it complies with all laws. You also play a key role in making sure that the organization’s rights are protected and obligations are met. You represent Desjardins in situations involving its legal interests. You lead and influence various players on development projects and highly innovative, complex strategic initiatives involving multiple sectors. You help develop and recommend strategic directions and business positions. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your field of expertise. You make recommendations on the development and execution of projects and initiatives with a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. You use your analytical skills and comprehensive, in-depth understanding of your line of business and the organization. Coordination is critical. You interact with a very large number of stakeholders working in a wide range of fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. You serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert, as well as a resource person for senior management and decision-making bodies. More specifically, you will be required to: 

    • Act as a legal advisor and support Desjardins Global Asset Management in its real estate and infrastructure investment activities, at both the national and international levels, and in implementing and managing corporate investment structures, including investment funds and limited partnerships
    • Help manage Desjardins Global Asset Management’s real estate and infrastructure investment portfolio
    •  Provide opinions on various aspects of transactional and corporate law
    • Draft, review and negotiate various transactional and corporate documents, including articles, bylaws, resolutions, shareholder agreements, acquisition agreements, partnership agreements, subscription agreements, delegations of power, mandates and other corporate documents
    • Conduct due diligence on real estate and infrastructure asset transactions
    • Manage mandates assigned to external legal advisors for major strategic transactions
    • Analyze applicable regulations and draft regulatory requests for various transaction files
    • Draft, review and ensure that operations comply with internal governance documents
    •  Participate in legislative, regulatory, jurisprudential and other changes to corporate, transactional, real estate and infrastructure law

    What you bring to the table  

    • Bachelor's degree in law
    • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including six years in corporate or transactional law (real estate and infrastructure)
    • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered  
    • Member of the Quebec Bar
    • Advanced proficiency of French
    • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
